Elysee Chronograph - no reserve

The case is undoubtedly Chinese, the movement is from Japan, (quartz, no jewels) and the leather band won’t even admit where it was made. The dial says “Dusseldorf, Germany” – why, I have no idea. I think the idea is to make you think that this watch is a quality European product of diligent, highly skilled elves and pixies in the Black Forest. Maybe the dial is made in Dusseldorf, Germany. Who knows? To give you an idea of what the watch is all about, you will see 4 prominent screws on the case – these screws are used in very expensive watches in attaching the band. In this watch, they do nothing, they are just there, attached to nothing, having no actual purpose – the band is attached with ordinary spring pins. Some people selling these things use meaningless phrases like “Stuka Flieger” and “1940 chronograph” to describe it, to appeal to the closet Nazi in all of us. What this Chinese / Japanese knock off has to do with the German air force is unclear. Perhaps the Luftwaffe dropped these on Poland in the hopes of demoralizing them. Taking off the back and seeing that Japanese no-jewels movement has certainly demoralized me. On the bright side, it is a 12 hour chronograph, and keeps very accurate time. If you are looking for a quality European timepiece, look elsewhere. If you are looking for a nice cheap quartz watch and hope to fool the uninitiated, this is the watch for you. It might also be a good choice for a person suffering from manic depression who is in euphoric mode and needs to come down. I personally get very depressed every time I look at it. I paid $56 for this watch a few weeks ago, and it is in like-new condition. I have only been able to stand wearing it about 4 times. If you bid more than about $29.95, you are equally out of your mind. Questions, please email. Shipping $3.50 USA, other pays actual. Achtung!
